What is Ashtanga Yoga?

Ashtanga Yoga is a structured Yoga practice that focuses on the eight-fold path exposed by the ancient yogic sage Patanjali and his yoga sutras. This style of yoga involves doing a specific sequence of Asanas and breathing with sound. The practice of Ashtanga Yoga combines three elements: posture (asana), gazing place (dristhi), and breathing  (pranayama)

Shala Etiquette

The Shala is our temple, our place of worship and learning. Enter it with respect and awareness.

  • Wear clean, modest and comfortable dressing.
  • Shower before and after practice. Avoid perfumes, deodorants and other cosmetics while practicing.
  • Switch off the phone when entering the Shala.
  • Photos or videos are not allowed within the Shala.
  • Do not eat/drink within the Shala 
  • Maintain Silence. Spread your mat quietly.
  • Bring a good quality yoga mat, 1 cotton mat/rug and one towel.
  • Wipe your mat and personal spot when you’ve finished your practice.
